With the winter wind whistling through the Midwest this morning it’s hard to believe that the kids will be off on spring break shortly. Despite the unseasonably cool weather, here’s some ideas for keeping them warm and entertained without all the assets in your wallet getting ‘frozen’ in the process.
Indoor Options:

Toddler time open gym is a great option for kids 5 and under to burn off some extra energy M, W, F. They offer tunnels, hula hoops, kids basketball hoop, jump ropes, and a mini slide/club house. It’s free for residents of St. Charles!

The St. Charles library is offering several fun and free events during the week of spring break including family story time, no school movie day, paint and sip juice, under the sea dance party, and magic and art by Dan Gogh. Check out the link to the events calendar for locations and times. Some events do require pre-registration so make sure you have your library card handy for sign up.
The Geneva library is offering all ages storytime (limited space available; spots don’t open till 15 mins. before story time begins), all ages painting with celery, puzzle day, Teen live action mystery (pre registration required), dough day, messy art day, paper plate rainbow, board game day, blue block build day. All activities are drop in unless otherwise specified. Check out the link to the events calendar for times and locations.
Lagoon Pool in Elk Grove Village offers a kids area with water slide and splash pad play area. Admission is $12 per person for non-residents.
Vaughan Pool in Aurora is offering special hours next week for spring break. It’s $9 for non-residents and kids 2 and under are free.

Outdoor Options: Just in case the weather decides to cooperate and suddenly become spring like next week don’t forget about all the outdoor playgrounds, bike trails, and skate parks that the Fox River Valley has to offer.
Kids are off, but you’re not? Check out:
No School Days at St. Charles Park District on page 28 of the guide book. Pre-registration is required and there is a fee required. All activities take place at Haines gym.

Hope these ideas put a little ‘spring’ in your family’s step this break.
Cheers!
Love,
Marie
